loving lately, volume 10

Hey hey hey!

It’s been a hot second since I’ve done one of these, so I thought I’d give you a rundown of all the things I’ve been googly-eye over lately! (If you’ve been following along for a bit, I renamed this from ‘Friday Favorites,’ just fyi!) Also, I just realized this post is a litttttle product-heavy, but I promise everything is less than $40 — whoop whoop! #ballinonabudget

+ Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Almond Butter Cups

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are probably my least favorite candy (don’t hate me!), but these almond butter cups are e v e r y t h i n g 🙌🏼 I’ve also had TJ’s sunflower butter cups, but I can say with certainty that the almond butter ones reign supreme.

+ Rose Ointment

Young Living’s Rose Ointment is a dream! Literally the best because I use it for soooo many things — smooth lips, flyaway hairs + frizz, dry patches, elbows, etc. It’s a deeply nourishing blend for dry skin all around. Rose essential oil improves skin texture, while Tea Tree works to soothe rough, irritated skin. (ps — I’m a Young Living Distributor! If you’d like to try it, contact me and I’ll add it to my monthly order and get you 24% off (just pay the shipping)! Trust me, you need this 🥰

+ Lander Torrey iPhone case in taupe

Ordering this riiiiiiight now! I’ve been looking for a new phone case and I think I found it! I wanted something cute, simple, durable and the detachable lanyard is an added bonus! I’m always holding onto my phone while I steer my shopping carts, soooo basically I’m always praying I don’t drop my phone (such is the life of a klutz 🤘🏼). The lanyard will help prevent it from falling (but if it does, the case can withstand a fall from up to 10 ft!) and the Thermoline insulation layer will keep my phone at optimal working temp in extreme climates. PLUS look at that cute pebble-like surface! It comes in 4 colors but the taupe is my favorite! Also, I feel like I should mention this isn’t sponsored 😅just love at first sight.

+ Vega Protein & Greens in coconut almond

I’ve been looking for a good vegan protein powder and I’m pleased to announce I have met THE ONE. I love everything coconut so choosing a flavor was a no-brainer for me. I’m loving it in smoothies — the taste is INCREDIBLE — plus, it’s gluten-free and non-GMO!

+ “The Goodness of God” blog post from Bethel Music 🙌🏼

+ Bodum Schiuma Milk Frother

I could probably cry thinking about how much I love this little milk frother. I’m sure you can find some fancier gadget with all the frothy bells + whistles, but I’m here to tell ya that for the low, low price of $6.99, this works great! As I write, I’m sipping the dreamiest concoction thanks to this little guy — I poured a little hazelnut creamer in my coffee cup, added a little cinnamon, frothed + poured in my hot coffee. This frother is L I F E - C H A N G I N G. You heard it hear first.

+ Project 62’s Reversible Knit Geo Throw Blanket

If you’re in need of a neutral, comfy + decently priced throw, look no further! I picked this up at my local Target a few weeks ago and I lovelovelove it. It’s like a tight sweater material, it’s super soft and I love that it’s reversible! I got it in tan/white 👍🏼(thought it’s more of taupe/cream?)

+ Cat & Jack Jelly Slide Sandals

If you’re a ‘90s girl and a size 7/8 or smaller in shoes … this one’s for you! hah. Seriously one of my favorite shoe purchases. So thankful I decided to try them on and they actually fit! I’m still waiting for butterfly clips and gel pens to make a comeback, but until then, you’ll find me wearing these + blasting some NSYNC and Spice Girls ✌🏼Like, duh!

+ Center Point Road

Just the whole album and the song and the making of it all and the meaning behind it … I’m a big Thomas Rhett fan and I love following him + his wife on Instagram. I didn’t know how TR could possibly top his last album, but “Center Point Road” is a dang good one. I’d like to think all of the country roads in my Northern California hometown are my Center Point Road. I’ve spent countless days and nights driving up and down those with my music blasted, passing cows. Many memories are also housed on Sylvan Avenue, too, where my high school lives and where I learned how to drive (if ya know, ya know). Where’s your Center Point Road?

Hope you all have a great week! (and happy shopping 😉)

love + light,

What to expect when you're not expecting, engaged or conquering the corporate world

When I was younger, I had a plan: go to college, start my career, get married around 22 or 23, first baby at 24, etcetera etcetera. It was a pretty solid dream, but when I started reaching those ages, I looked back at my little ol’ plan with a hearty laugh.

First of all, starting a career and building up my portfolio is hard work. And the whole marriage thing? That was nowhere near happing. And babies?! For one, that wasn’t happening for me without the marriage part, and secondly, how was I expecting myself to care for a wee little baby when I still felt like one myself?

(Side note: If I knew being an adult was going to be so hard, I wouldn’t have signed up for it HAH. Who can I talk to about a refund!?)

But back to goal setting. It’s normal for us to dream and have aspirations (we should!), but expecting ourselves to reach them by a certain point is, in the words of the great Gwen Stefani, B-A-N-A-N-A-S. Life just doesn’t work that way. It’s not going to revolve around what we penciled in our planner ages ago — and that’s ok! I mean, it’s incredibly frustrating sometimes, but that’s ok! Haha.

In “Lost,” Dermot Kennedy sings, “I’ve learned in love and death, we don't decide.” Just the thought of that — that the universe is so much bigger than all of us and that we have no control over meeting the love of our life or facing unbearable tragedy at any moment — whew. It just puts everything into perspective. This whole thing is His. Not ours, His. For Him, for His glory. And even if we can’t see what tomorrow holds, why should we let worry creep into our minds? Why live in fear when we can live in light?

It’s so easy for us to compare our lives (and timelines) to everyone else’s. If you ever feel like you’re not measuring up, remind yourself that God created YOU in His perfect image. Delete your social media apps for the night, day, weekend or month. Focus on the unfiltered, living color around you and take in the beauty of your own life. Your journey might be dissimilar to everyone else’s, but that’s the beauty of it! The paths we take are all different and beautiful and unique because they’re OURS.

Society has fixed it into our brains that we have to be married, have a baby, climb the corporate ladder, yadda yadda, by a certain age, when that’s just completely untrue. At the end of the day, the only thing making us feel that way is us. Our thoughts, our feelings, our mindset.

So what should you expect when you’re not expecting, engaged or conquering the corporate world?

Nothing + everything. The more we expect, the more we limit the greatness of our potential. But at the same time, never stop trusting in God’s timing and plan for your life — His will is better than any of our wildest expectations.
