I am a blogger, freelance graphic designer and Young Living independent distributor. I graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism. I love words, design and large cups of coffee.
I grew up in Modesto, Calif. before moving to the Central Coast for college in 2010. While at Cal Poly, I worked as a reporter, copy editor and arts editor/designer at my university’s student-run newspaper, Mustang News. As part of an integrated newsroom, Mustang News gave me the opportunity to immerse myself in various forms of journalism in a fast-paced and digital-first environment.
After graduating from Cal Poly in 2014, I made my way to Southern California. I worked as a Junior Designer for The San Diego Union-Tribune for more than two years, designing news and features pages and covers.
In early 2017, I started doing freelance graphic design.
In June 2018, I created my lifestyle and wellness blog. With a background in editing, writing and design, starting the website gave me the opportunity to share all of those passions in one project.
In October 2018, I became a Young Living independent distributor. Natural living and wellness are very important to me and building my business, Poppy + Pine, has given me the opportunity to share and educate about essential oils and non-toxic products. I’ve also been able to exercise my journalism degree by sharing and engaging through various social media platforms, designing for social and writing posts that interest readers.
